The SC07 Education Program will be held Saturday, November 10th, through Tuesday, November 13th in Reno, Nevada.

SC Education Poster Session

Each team is invited to display posters highlighting research or activities in which they are involved. Posters allow presentation of research results in a casual setting, with the chance for in-depth, one-on-one dialogue that can proceed at its own pace and offer the opportunity for more direct feedback to presenters.

This year’s poster reception will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2007, from 7:00 until 9:00 pm during the SC07 Education Program reception at the Nugget Hotel. In addition, space is available for posters to be on display at the Reno Sparks Convention Center, Sunday, November 11 – Tuesday, November 13.

Poster Session FAQs

Who is the audience for the Poster Session?

Other participants in the SC07 Education Program as well as the general conference committee will make up the audience of the Poster Session. The participants are K-12 in-service or pre-service teachers and undergraduate faculty from a variety of disciplines.

The poster session will be held at the opening Education Program reception, Saturday night, November 10, 2007, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Nugget Hotel. In addition, space is available to display your poster at the Reno Sparks Convention Center beginning Sunday, November 11 and concluding at the end of the Education Program on Tuesday, November 13.

How can I transport the poster?

Airlines provide boxes into which the poster can be placed for the flight. You should contact your airlines to confirm this and ask how it impacts the number of bags then check at the ticket desk for the box. SC Education Program takes no responsibility for the transport of the poster.

Will the poster be displayed throughout the conference?

Yes. Participants are encouraged to display their poster at the Reno Sparks Convention Center Sunday, November 11 – Tuesday, November 13. Someone from your team is responsible for setting up and removing your poster it immediately at the conclusion of the Education Program on Tuesday.

What is the purpose for having a poster session?

A poster session gives an educator or researcher an opportunity to share his/her special activity or research. Others involved in the conference can communicate with the educator or researcher on a one-on-one basis where more information can be shared with the participants. Your goal is to engage other participants in a conversation where you can describe your research or activity.

Do I need handouts?

You are not required to have handouts but if you do provide handouts to the participants remember that they will have limited space to take home all the handouts they receive at the conference. A small handout that also provides contact or website information is probably best.

Is it permissible to have a poster if not all the authors attend?

Yes, but at least one author must be available during the Poster Session to stand by the poster and answer questions.
